February Message to NSLOA Membership
As we move into February, we are one more month away from the start of Box season and things are starting to RAMP up lol. Below you will find this month newsletter as we continue much of the transition within Nova Scotia Lacrosse. If you have any questions, please reach out anytime.
New Ramp website is up and running.
As mentioned in the last message, the NSLOA will be transitioning our website to the RAMP platform (previous we were with Goalline) to align with most of the leagues in Nova Scotia. Thanks to Brian for his hard work, our new website is up and running. You can go to NSLOA.ca as a central point of data but we have new apps for 2024!
We will have more details and training on the Assignment and Gamesheet Apps - stay tuned for those.
Official of the Year nomination
Every year Sport Nova Scotia hosts the RIOCH Sport Awards which includes Lacrosse Nova Scotia Official of the Year. This year the NSLOA executive is reaching to membership for a call of nominations from your peers. The submissions will be reviewed by the NSLOA executive, and a short list will be sent on to LNS for the final submission. If you have a nomination, please submit to Brendon Smithson at brendonlivestrong@hotmail.com by the deadline is Thursday Feb 22, 2024.
NSLOA Special meeting/updated bylaws
The NSLOA executive have updated the bylaws as mentioned at this year’s AGM and are calling a special meeting on March 25, 2024, to approve the bylaws. The newest version can be found on the website or clicking on the link below to access them. The new bylaws do make a significant change to the structure of the organization. Previously, the board was made up of sector chairs for each discipline (box, field, women’s field), but as the number of leagues continue to expand in Nova Scotia, there is value to having more voices at the table to ensure all concerns are heard and supported. In the new structure, sector chair will be replaced with league OIC. Understanding this does expand the duties of OIC (formerly RIC), but we believe the value of having the voices at the table will support the growth of all officials in Nova Scotia. The board typically meets 2 - 3 times a year, so not as to stretch the commitment of our OICs too far.
If you have any questions about the new bylaws, please reach out and welcome any feedback on the direction.
